e-FAN MAIL: MOTIVATION AND INSPIRATION

8-Tom Platz book "pro-style body building" is inspirational to any new person coming into the sport of bodybuilding. James F.
ANSWER: Thanks, James for all the kind words! It is good to know that I can still motivate and inspire bodybuilders across the globe. Thanks for taking the time to email. Regards, Tom Platz

8-Tom: You won't remember this but I ran into you at the D/FW airport (Dallas-Fort Worth) about 12 years ago. You were in between flights and I approached you and told you I was a big fan of yours. We shook hands and then you asked me if I knew of any place in the airport where you could purchase a bran muffin. I was a college student then but that experience is forever in my memories. You made such an impact on the sport of bodybuilding and you will be remembered forever. Everyone knows who Tom PLatz is! Take care, Kirk T.
ANSWER: Kirk, hey, thanks man for all the kind words. I think I do remember you – as I haven't asked many people across the nation about a bran muffin. I still eat them occasionally. It is kind of a treat for me when I travel, even now. Regards, Tom Platz

8-Dear Tom, I just recently read an article about the guy with the greatest leg development of his generation in Muscle & Fitness October 2002. We'll I'm in my forties and do remember seeing those same pictures in Joe Weider's mags back in the 70s and 80s. I was into bodybuilding for years until I got married and started a family. I was always amazed and inspired by your leg shots. I would talk to my girls and tell them about all the great body builders and what made each one truly great. The Arnold, Robby Robinson, Frank Zane and you Tom Platz. All I can say is its great to know that you're still alive and well and preaching the gospel of good health and fitness. To this day I can honestly say that it would still be darn near impossible for anyone to really come close to the leg development that you had achieved. In my book your still one of the greatest of all time, and yes, many of us still remember what you meant to the world of Bodybuilding. From an old fan, Fred C., New York
ANSWER: Fred, thanks for the compliments. Those were great days! I'll cherish them forever! I see Arnold and Franco quite often at 'Cigar Night' at Schatzi's in Venice. You know, when you get older, like us, you just hope you made a difference. Regards, Tom Platz

8-Dear Mr. Platz, I had the great pleasure of watching the Mr. Olympia 1982, where I first saw you. I had just begun my journey with weights, only having been training for about a year. Been inspired by you ever since. Saw you on three other occasions when you visited London England at seminars held by you. I still have the beach photo of you, which you signed for me that day of the Mr. Olympia 1982. I also have one of your Mr. Universe T-shirts. Have you any planned trips back to London England where you may be holding any seminars? Kind regards, thanking you for providing me with inspiration that I've applied to not only my workouts, but my attitude towards my journey so far. Dave K., London
ANSWER: Hi, Dave, England has always been good to me. I receive several email each month from various people I used to do shows with. One of my favorite people, Bill Boyd, recently passed away, and I was notified by one of his friends. It was a sad day. When I was with Bill, no where in the world could we do 30 seminars in a row and have the audience follows us from town to town. The last one was ridiculously well-attended! They were so much fun! No plans, yet, to revisit. Keep up the great workouts! Stay focused. Regards, Tom Platz
